About Us

Welcome to The Worlds End Association

Worlds End Association is a non-political organisation, run by an elected committee of residents who serve on a voluntary basis. The Association’s aim is to foster a sense of community among residents, by working to conserve, enhance and protect the area, particularly through liaison with local government.

The Association has been active for 36 years and current membership is 80 homes around 200 people. Members join by paying an annual subscription of five pounds with many making a donation.

Why you should join?

We recognise that people are busy with their lives and being active in the local residents’ association is not at the top of their priority list but most people care about the area in which they choose to live. They want to know what is going on in their locality and whether they will be affected by any changes or developments. They also want to maintain and increase the value of their property which is directly affected by the state of the surrounding area.

This is where The Worlds End Association comes in with its elected Committee of fellow residents which monitors local planning applications, liaises with local authorities, attends Local and County Council meetings, lobbies train companies, county highway authorities, police, reports graffiti and generally tries to prevent the locality from becoming tatty around the edges.

The Committee’s work and findings are reported to members through regular newsletters, this website, local talks and the Annual General Meeting held in March.

Getting Involved

To get involved all you have to do is join up and be ready to give support when important issues arise. We have found that working together and increasing local support gets things done such as the widening of the pedestrian footpath under the Leylands Road railway bridge.

Subscription money helps to offset the costs of hosting this website, printing and posting the newsletter.

Committee members are voluntary so if you would like to support your locality through them or with them please contact any member of the commitee who will be happy to explain how a small contribution of your time can make a difference.

You do not have to join the Committee but just bring your own thoughts, ideas and support by responding to articles, surveys and questionaires.

You are welcomed!
